Police have identified the man fatally stabbed on a Brooklyn shuttle bus Sunday afternoon as 41-year-old Alvin Francis, of Queens.

The NYPD says the deadly incident began as an argument on board the J90 shuttle bus, which was stopped near Crescent Street and Etna Street in Cypress Hills. The attack happened just before 2 p.m.

According to police, Francis was stabbed in the stomach during the dispute. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Francis was transported to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Crime scene investigators spent hours examining the bus, searching for evidence. No arrests have been made, and police have not released a description of the suspect.

A neighbor who lives across the street said he saw the aftermath from his window.

"I heard some people screaming, so I looked out my window and I [saw] the bus was stopped there, and everybody was running out the bus and in matter than three seconds the cops were here."

So far this year, NYPD statistics show at least 13 reported transit crimes in the 75th Precinct, which includes Cypress Hills and East New York – compared to eight at this time last year.
