Two people are dead and two others were seriously injured after a fire broke out early Saturday inside a building in East Flatbush.

A 911 call came in at 6:49 a.m. of smoke and fire at 1693 Nostrand Ave., between Beverly and Cortelyou roads.

The fire was located on the second floor of a three‑story mixed‑occupancy building.

Four people were found inside. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others sustained serious injuries that are not considered life‑threatening.

The fire was placed under control at 7:38 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
