A student was found with a gun inside a high school in Bushwick, police say.
A 911 call just after 2 p.m. led the officers to the gun-carrying 16-year-old boy inside The Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology, located at 1396 Broadway.
Sources say the school is “non-scanning,” meaning students are not required to pass through metal detectors.
No one was injured, and police took the boy into custody.
The Department of Education issued the following statement:
"Weapons have absolutely no place in our schools, or our city. This item was quickly recovered by the NYPD, and all students and staff are safe. We are offering additional security and support to the school community in the coming days."
No official charges have been filed as of Tuesday evening.
