Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man they say is behind a series of robberies across New York City, including two in Brooklyn. Investigators have identified the man as 33-year-old Gustavo DeJesus Torres. Police say the incidents happened over several days in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx. In each case, investigators say Torres walked into a business and handed a note demanding money. Two of those incidents happened in Brooklyn on March 14. Police say he first went into a location on Fulton Street in downtown Brooklyn around 11:20 a.m., but did not get any money. Less than an hour later, investigators say he went to a bank on Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush, where he got away with about $265. Police say Torres is also linked to four other incidents across the city. In some cases, he got cash — including as little as $20 — and in others, he left empty-handed. No one was hurt in any of the robberies. Surveillance images released by police show Torres inside locations and also entering a subway station.
