Police are investigating two home invasions in Bath Beach, just days apart from each other.
Officials say a group of five men targeted a residence, on Feb. 15 and again on Feb.17.
The first time, they forced their way into an apartment and stole $10,000 from a tenant's bedroom dresser.
“I'm very surprised,” said one resident who lives near the incident. “That doesn’t really happen. I haven't heard it happen. We have a few incidents where packages were taken off people’s patios or porches, but that’s the first I've heard of it.”
With no one inside that apartment, the group was able to run off with the money freely.
When they returned two days later, someone was home, and the group ran off with nothing.
Despite the security cameras all over the vicinity of Bay 37 St and 86th St, where the incident happened, safety concerns are still present.
“I’m more aware now of people that are coming and going,” said a resident. “I do keep an eye on people if I don’t recognize them. We do have police go by, but not as often as I’d like. It does raise eyebrows. The community definitely is changing.”
Police are asking for your assistance in tracking down those five suspects.
