Police are searching for at least 15 boys – all believed to be teenagers -who allegedly robbed an 18-year-old man at knifepoint in Dyker Heights.
It happened shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday on 8th Avenue and 66th Street near the Leif Ericson Park playground.
Police said the group assaulted the victim, pointed knives at him, then took his jacket and ran away.
Video given exclusively to News 12 showed the victim walking up and getting into an ambulance before police arrived on scene.
“It was really messy,” said one witness who asked not to be identified. “I couldn’t really see the details. Five, 10 seconds later, [the attackers] just started running away from the [victim]. They were yelling.”
The witness said at least three of the alleged attackers were on mopeds.
“The people that are on mopeds, I think they went down [the block] or they went to the right, because there’s an exit on the side of the park,” said the witness. “The people that were on feet just started running all over the place.”
As of Monday night, it was unknown what led to the incident.
“[It’s] something regular that’s happening in Brooklyn,” said the witness. “This is not that uncommon over here.”
Police said the victim was taken to Lutheran Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
