A Borough Park smoke shop was the subject in a two-hour raid after police say they seized more than 1,100 illegal flavored vapes on Friday evening.
The bust took place at the Flamina Grill on New Utrecht Avenue, where officers from the sheriff's office, along with other city agencies, conducted the operation that ended with large clear bags filled with vape products being hauled from the store.
Advertisements for various vape brands were still posted outside the storefront over the weekend, though the shelves inside appeared to be completely emptied.
One local business owner said he frequently saw young teens inside the shop and believes that may have prompted the investigation.
Workers at the smoke shop claim the raid is a misunderstanding and insist they have never sold illegal products.
Police said no arrests have been made at this time, but the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection has issued a summons.
News 12 has reached out to the department and the Sheriff's Office for comment.
