The NYPD says that in the first five months of this year, murders were at the lowest level recorded for any year's first five months.
It comes after News 12 previously reported six people who died from a shooting or stabbing in Brooklyn in the last week of May.
News 12 previously reported about a 41-year-old man fatally shot at a laundromat in
Flatlands, a 38-year-old man fatally stabbed in
Cypress Hills, a man stabbed to death in
Sunset Park, a man stabbed to death in
Canarsie, and two women stabbed to death over the weekend inside a
Park Slope apartment building.
It's important to note that the majority of these incidents were stabbings, as the NYPD says Brooklyn led the city with a 47.6% reduction in shooting incidents.
