Police released new surveillance images of three people wanted in connection with a string of violent robberies across Sunset Park — including one case where a man was shot multiple times.
Investigators believe the incidents may be connected and say the attacks happened between late March and the end of April.
Newly released surveillance video shows three people dressed in dark clothing walking down a sidewalk. Another clip shows a man getting out of a car carrying a black Nike backpack.
Police say one of the first incidents happened March 23 near 52nd Street and Ninth Avenue. A 53-year-old man was punched several times before his watch, cellphone and cash were taken. Investigators say the stolen watch alone was worth about $10,000.
Then on April 9, police say four people inside a residential building lobby near 57th Street and Eighth Avenue were threatened with guns, knives and a metal object before their phones, cash, debit cards and watches were taken. The stolen property was valued at about $9,000.
Another robbery happened April 22 near 43rd Street and 10th Avenue. Police say a 53-year-old man was hit in the back with a baseball bat before his wallet was stolen.
Then on April 29, police say a 42-year-old woman was followed into a residential building near 52nd Street and Ninth Avenue. Investigators say one of the attackers showed a gun and hit the woman in the face before taking her purse, cash and three cellphones worth about $5,400.
But the most serious incident happened April 27 outside a building on 58th Street. Police say a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times in the stomach and leg before his phone, wallet and about $300 were taken. He was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the people seen in the surveillance images to come forward.
