Fort Greene has a new home for aspiring basketball players. MADE x HMBL, the neighborhood’s newest athletic training facility, is designed to help hoopers of all backgrounds sharpen their skills and chase their dreams, on and off the court.
For young athletes like Woode, a MADE Hoops youth player, the vision is already clear.
“I want to be the best NBA player ever,” he said. “I see it for myself every time I come here.”
That belief is exactly what Brooklyn native and HMBL Development CEO Justin Bright hopes to inspire. At MADE x HMBL Gym, Bright and his team focus on more than just basketball fundamentals. The facility offers daily skill development, strength and conditioning, and plyometric training, all led by professional coaches working with athletes from elementary through high school.
But Bright emphasizes that the mission goes beyond the game.
“It’s bigger than basketball,” he explained. “It’s mentorship, it’s parenthood, it’s big brothers, uncles. All these different avenues are built into the training itself.”
The gym itself reflects that commitment to excellence. Spanning 15,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art facility is among the first of its kind dedicated to youth development. It features advanced Shottracker technology, the same level used in the NBA - allowing players to receive real-time feedback on their performance.
“We have sensors throughout the facility that track our players’ shots during workouts,” said General Manager Brendan Callahan. “It shows makes and misses, along with projected shooting percentages, so athletes can see their progress instantly.”
With sleek courts, high-tech equipment, and a steady rhythm of basketballs echoing through the space, the gym is built to simulate an elite training environment.
And it’s not just for kids.
If you’ve got your sights set on becoming the next standout player, or simply improving your game - MADE x HMBL, is open to all ages.
“If you’re looking to be a top-tier athlete, you want to be in this gym,” Bright said. “We have day classes for adults too. So if you want to get better, not just as a kid - this is the space for you.”
In Fort Greene, MADE x HMBL is more than a training facility. It’s a launching pad for dreams, a hub for mentorship, and a place where hard work meets opportunity - one shot at a time.
