Knicks fans have something to celebrate ahead of game 4, after the NYPD announced the watch party outside Madison Square Garden was approved and will be happening.
The event will move forward as a ticketed event, with police saying they will set up the same safety protocols from Monday, limiting access to several streets.
According to the NYPD, the perimeter will run from West 29th to West 35th streets, between Sixth and Eighth avenues.
The watch party was canceled on Monday with President Donald Trump attending the game.
Despite the gathering being restored for game 4, Madison Square Garden representatives are urging restrictions to be lifted, calling Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch "party poopers."
MSG representatives shared in a statement, "The complete closing of areas around MSG is going to affect not only the celebration but also all the small businesses that rely on Garden fans for their livelihood. These celebrations are part of the heart and soul of New Yorkers."
After the fall of the Knicks in game 3 on Monday, fans took out their frustrations on the streets. Police tell News 12, 21 people were taken into custody and five officers were hurt.
"I don’t condone any violence towards anybody whether they’re on the opposing team or any human being," said one fan, Hong.
The Canadian flew in just for game 4 and said he hopes fans leave the frustration on the court. "I think that went a little overboard, but I think it’s great to be passionate, I think we have the best fans in the world."
The NYPD says security perimeters will start at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
