Governor Kathy Hochul is considering measures to prevent youth online gambling and protect New Yorkers.

The legal gambling age in New York is 21. The governor has directed the New York State Gaming Commission to take appropriate actions to verify users’ ages in online betting apps. The commission must also consider the use of technology to identify and assist those who may need assistance with gambling addiction.

Public comments are accepted on the plans until May 15.
