The race for the midterm elections may be getting most of the attention, but there's another campaign underway, and it's going to the dogs.
The Honorary NYC Dog Mayor election is currently seeking its next canine leader.
Among the candidates is Brooklyn resident Doctor Computer Chips, a Shih Tzu who became a local favorite after having one of her legs amputated.
Chips' owner, Kelsey Murphy, says she hopes the dog's campaign will inspire other owners of disabled pets.
"A lot of people see themselves in Chips, and that has been really cool to be a vehicle for that and to help people kind of get excited about something and love something that's so cute," Murphy said.
The winner and runner-up will be crowned Honorary Dog Mayor and Deputy Honorary Dog Mayor, respectively, and will serve two-year terms.
