A 72-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a Brownsville hit-and-run that killed a former Nickelodeon star in January, police say.

Michael Griffiths was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident with injury-prior.

Police responded to a report of a person struck at Pitkin Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard around 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 16.

Investigators say a black 2021 Ford Explorer SUV driven by Griffiths was traveling west on Pitkin Avenue and had a green light as it approached Mother Gaston Boulevard. They say Griffiths then crossed the double yellow line to pass another vehicle that was beginning to make a right turn from westbound Pitkin Avenue to northbound Mother Gaston Boulevard and hit 33-year-old Kianna Underwood.

Police say Underwood was trying to cross Pitkin Avenue in the marked crosswalk. As Underwood lay in the road, she was then struck by a black and gray sedan, according to officials.

As News 12 has reported, Underwood was found in the street on Pitkin Avenue and Osborn Street after the sedan dragged her two blocks and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said both vehicles did not remain on scene.

Underwood was a cast member on "All That" during its 10th season.
