A Downtown Brooklyn man will spend 13 years in prison for carrying out a series of gunpoint robberies across Brooklyn over the course of four days in 2024.

Prosecutors say 34-year-old Jaquan Smith-Mack pleaded guilty in June to robbery. He was ultimately caught after police spotted him riding a stolen moped without a helmet.

Officials say the robbery spree began on Sept. 27, 2024, when Smith-Mack approached a man near Navy Street and Park Avenue, showed the victim a gun in his waistband and told him to "run your pockets."

Prosecutors say the victim handed over his wallet and AirPods, but Smith-Mack also demanded the man's glasses.

Two days later, Smith-Mack targeted an Uber Eats delivery driver at an apartment building on Monument Walk in Fort Greene. He allegedly pointed a gun at the driver's stomach and demanded the keys to a moped, saying, "If you don't give me the key, I will shoot you."

According to prosecutors, Smith-Mack took the moped and the victim's cellphone before driving away.

The following day, prosecutors say he robbed a third victim at a bus stop on DeKalb Avenue in Clinton Hill after displaying a gun. The victim handed over $15.

Hours later, prosecutors say Smith-Mack was seen riding the stolen moped through Bedford-Stuyvesant without a helmet or license plate and running red lights.

When NYPD officers attempted a traffic stop, prosecutors say Smith-Mack drove onto a sidewalk, fell off the moped and ran away. He then tripped and fell again, allegedly throwing away a loaded handgun that was later recovered by officers.
