Bronx congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier called out Mayor Zohran Mamdani for backing NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch after the ICE shooting in Marble Hill.

Chevalier criticized Tisch on X after an ICE agent shot and injured a man they were targeting in the Bronx.

"Instead of condemning ICE's violence, Police Commissioner Tisch attempted to justify the shooting by reading off our neighbor's past interactions with police," she said in her statement on X.

Chevalier also called for NYPD's Strategic Response Group to be disbanded and for Commissioner Tisch to step down.

Mamdani is standing by Tisch, saying she will not be fired.

Despite these disagreements, Chevalier's communications director says the mayor and Chevalier remain close allies and have a good relationship.
