A Canarsie man who prosecutors say sexually assaulted a woman in 2023 received a 12-year prison sentence.
District Attorney Eric Gonzalez says 26-year-old Janeal Figueroa followed the 35-year-old woman from a Kensington bar. He carried her into an alley and sexually assaulted her.
Prosecutors say an off-duty officer who was visiting from Maryland was nearby and intervened.
Police arrested Figueroa after bragging about the act to witnesses.
